Who's Wearing High Heel Pumps

If you get a chance to look at the upcoming Oscar ceremony, you'll see high heel pumps being sported by so many of the celebrities, in fact, it was only recently that Gwenyth Paltrow was seen sporting a pretty impressive pair of pink high heel pump shoes. She's an amazing looking woman, with legs to 'die' for, but shoes high heels looked a million dollars didn't they.

Megan Fox, Liv Tyler, Paris Hilton to name but a few. High heel pumps are the chic and trendy shoes for every occasion. And the great thing is that the low cost designers are always mimicking the designs and styles that are out of the price range of the mere mortal. In fact, the celebs don't always have to have the most expensive shoes. Lily Allen is a pretty down to earth girl, and she was recently photographed in London wearing a 'not to shabby' set of Nine West sandals with a pretty impressive heel.

So what designates a shoe as a high heel? The major fashion designers have their own ideas, and the general consensus from Jimmy Choo and Gucci, is that if a heel is lower than 2.5 inches, it's a low heel. A mid heel is a heel that is between 2.3 - 3.5 inches. The high heel is over the 3.5 inch height.

One thing that did give me a bit of a chuckle was that in older times, men used to wear high heels!! It's not seen so much today, apart from on cowboy boots and Cuban heels, but I'd love to se a guy sporting a set of 5.5 inch heels, and not complaining about how much his feet hurt.

Buying High Heel Pumps

The high street has always been the natural hunting ground for shoe hunting, but more and more people are taking advantage of the diversity and availability of high heeled pumps at the online stores. I took a look on Amazon , and was pretty surprised at the range they now have, compared to only 12 months ago.

Amazons high heel pumps are a pretty amazing assortment of shoes, and they suit all budgets and styles. They offer a high heel pump in classic designs, peep toe and platform pump styles. Their sandal range are going to be excellent as spring and summer approaches. I really love the red high heel pumps for a night out, and the classic black high heel pumps for work.

A couple of stand out high heeled shoes that I spotted were these.

Steve Madden Women's Caryssa Platform Pump

These are a great example of classic high heel pumps. They have a really high stiletto heel and a covered platform and toe. The heel is an awe-inspiring 5 1/4 inches and these are made with real leather uppers. As well as being available in red, you can find them in black, green, suede and beige. Customers seem to like them too. They get remarks like, 'great shoes', 'beautiful, and 'perfect and sexy'. One owner commented, and I have to agree, that these could easily look like a pair of $500 shoes, but they only cost around $70 USD.

If you are a little nervous of have such high heels, remember that the platform is around an inch, so in reality, it only feels like you are wearing a set of 4" heels.

These seem like really good value for money, and i always love a shoe that's looks far exceed the cost. Steve Madden shoes are always good value and well built. I'd definitely get a pair.

Bordello by Pleaser Women's Teeze-06 Platform Pump

These high heel platform pumps are stunners! They sport a vertigo inducing 5 /1/2 inch heel that should stop your husband or boyfriend from trying them on whilst you're out.

They are a synthetic upper, and come in a hot glitter pink (shown right), green glitter, or red patent leather effect, as well as some other colors subject to availability. They all look fab, but my feeling is the glitter ones are a great party shoe, with the patent leather looking good in any situation.

Although synthetic, buyers seem to love them. Customer reviews think they are really naught and sexy, and I can't disagree. They are a very bold style of shoe. Price Guide - $70 Approx
